About

I graduated in medicine at the University of Chile, where I also specialized in Paediatrics and studied a Master in Health Administration. Later, I studied a Master in Bioethics at the Catholic University of Chile.

During about 10 years of professional experience, I have worked both in clinical and public health posts. Before arriving to Keele, I used to work both as a consultant in a Paediatric Intensive Care Unit in Santiago de Chile, and as an advisor to the Chilean Secretary of State for Health. In the later post I collaborated in the design of the Chilean healthcare system reform, the proposal for the amendment of the “Patients’ Rights and Duties” bill, and the draft of the new regulations for Ethics Committees in Human Research, and for Clinical Ethics Committees.

My research consists of a theoretical analysis of what counts as justice in health when informing the policy-making in developing countries.
